1) Inclusive Pricing – great value for money spent!
- Cruise pricing includes accommodations, meals, entertainment, use of most ship’s facilities, and transportation from destination to destination.
- All-Inclusive Resort pricing includes all your meals, accommodations, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, sports activities and children’s programs.
- Escorted Tour pricing includes accommodations, select meals, select tours, and transportation from destination to destination.
2) Do you really need that ocean view?
- Cruise lines, as well as hotels, have many different room types, and the price of each goes up depending on the view. Maybe pick an inside stateroom on your cruise vacation or a garden view in Hawaii. With pools and the actual beach only minutes away, how much time are you really going to spend looking out the window in your room anyway?
3) If budget is a high priority, pick a shorter vacation.
- You don’t need to take a whole week off just to take a vacation. Sometimes a quick 3-night getaway is all you need to feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
- Cruises and land vacations offer many different 3- and 4-night vacation options and savings.
4) "Off Season" Destinations
- By traveling during "off season" you can often save money without losing any of the fun, excitement and pleasures of your vacation.
- If a little bit of weather won’t kill you, consider Costa Rica or Hawaii in September, maybe Europe in October – avoid the lines, the crowds and the higher prices!
5) Weak U.S. dollar in Europe – prepay in advance
- With a cruise or an escorted vacation through Europe, you can pay in advance in dollars, which often represents added value compared to a European vacation paid in local currencies.
6) Take the kids along and still stay within your budget.
- Many cruise lines offer discounts for what they call the 3rd or 4th guests in a stateroom – those are your kids! We’ve seen prices as low as $99. Be sure to ask what current cruise promotions are out there for 3rd or 4th guests.
- A lot of hotels are offering "Kids stay free" or "Kids stay and eat free" promotions. Even some of the All-Inclusive resorts offer kids promotions… that means you get to bring the whole family and all you pay for are the adults' accommodations – meals, drinks, kids' accommodations and activities are all included!
7) Stay closer to home this year
- Many cruises leave from ports in the United States; pick one close to home and avoid the cost of airfare.
- Consider a hotel close to home, maybe even in your own city. The change of place will get you away from your everyday routine and might be just the refreshing getaway you need.
8) Or maybe take that Exotic Vacation you never thought you could afford
