Montrose Travel Imports Snow to Snowpalooza 2008 Event
MONTROSE, California – October 30, 2008 – Montrose Travel, a $110 million full-service travel and host agency celebrated their "Snowpalooza" event at the Montrose Travel-owned 2349 Honolulu Ave. parking lot. The event, which welcomed an early arrival of winter, was envisioned by Joe McClure, President, who wanted to provide a means for the employees and home based independent agents to have fun at a company-wide event, yet be able to spend quality time with their family.
At 4:30pm the snow machine started shooting a steady stream of snowflakes to create an 8-foot snow mountain especially for sledding. When the event officially started at 5:30pm, children ran straight to the snow and started throwing snowballs. Music was flipped on to accompany the festivities, and the grill was already smoking.
Hotdogs and hamburgers were constantly on the grill to feed the 200 adults and kids in attendance. Everyone ate to their hearts content, with hot chocolate and cider to further promote the winter theme. (Remember, Californians are a little different than the rest of the country!).
Adults volunteered to participate in Snow Saucer races with masterfully crafted newspaper hats, complete with feather. Chubby Bunny marshmallow games took place in the corner, videotaped for posterity. Prize leis were handed out to the winners. As the evening winded down, people gathered around the fire pits for smores and relaxing banter.
